4 stars (Very good for a Star Wars game) - I've got to state up front that I suffer from major Star Wars burnout -- the first movie (1977) was great, everything else has been merchandising -- so my praise for this game is not given lightly. Gameplay is smooth and dynamic, some Star Wars games we've had in the past have been really dreadfully behind the times, this feels like it's state-of-the-art. The space combat is a welcome addition. My son clued me in on new characters previously not available to be played. It looks great on the screen. Overall? For a Star Wars game, very good. For any other game, ok. It's an improvement on previous Star Wars games, but for my money I just do not want to hear Obi Wan Kenobi's voice encouraging me to trust the force or take a droidica apart or anything like that. I'm just sick of Star Wars in general. Now, my son, who's eleven, thinks this is the best game he's played since Halo 2. So go forth and figure. 5 stars (THIS IS AN AWSOME SEQUEL THE BEST STAR WARS GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I got this game and the SW Episode 111 dvd on the same day which was the release date. Once I started playing this game I was very pleased. This is the only thing that really bothers me is the story mode because you have to complete certain objectives that got kind of annoying but besides that they still have Galactic Conquest which is awsome and so is Instant Action and you get to play as Jedi/Sith celeberties and HAn,Chewee,Jango,Baba and Lehia. This is a game I strongly recomened this game to die-hard Star Wars fans such as myself and fans of the original SW Battlefront and to some Battlefield,Halo,Unreal, fans. This game is so will worth the money!!!! 1 stars (Absolutely incredible letdown) - After a week plus with this game, my initial reaction has been confirmed time and time again - This is a true hack job, an incredible disappointment and waste of money for most consumers. The graphic interface on this game is truly atrocious - overly... 5 stars (This game was perfect) - Starwars Battle Front II is a great game and any slight starwars fan would have no doubt about buying this game. On this game when you play campaign, Rise of the Empire, you start off as a Clone Trooper with your squad called the "501st" you battle just as you would in the movies. And instead of just taking over command posts and killing your enemys, like on the original Battle Front, the enemy has unlimited reinforcements so you better be quick because you only have a limited amount of troops and you now have objectives to do. Later in the game you turn into the Empire instead of the Clone Troopers. This game is almost like the first one, except now you can take the battle to space! To win space battles grab anything you can, a fighter, a bomber, or a transport ship, just get over to that enemy star destroyer and do anything you can to get rid of your enemy. You can either bomb the star destroyer from the outside or go inside and destroy anything you can by blowing it up. If you take a transport ship and land it in the enemy hanger that transport is a spawn point untill it is destroyed. On the battle field you have an opertunity to become a hero: Yoda, Obi Wan, Mace Windu, Darth Vader ect. Your hero does not last forever so you need to take advantage of the time you have by taking over highly guarded command posts or just wipeing out the enemy. Your hero has a time limit that goes down slowly, but when you get hit it takes a portion out of the amount of time you can use your hero, and when you kill an enemy a portion is gained. All heros have a second attack besides their light sabers, some have force lightning, others have force push, or force choke, and all the heros, equiped with a light saber, can throw their light sabers. The jedi heros can run very fast if sprinting, which is very usefull if you need to get somewhere quickly, and don't have a vehicle. Most of the weapons are still the same and there are new kinds of people... Yokka Wars is a turn based strategy game. You start with a friend or two on an island that simply is not big enough for you and your enemies. So you grab neutral provinces and raise armies, plunder treasures, and engage in combat. The rules of the game are simple enough and you sure master them in a minute. Mastering the game, liberating all islands, and winning the Big Campaign will take a LOT longer... 4 stars (Worth the wait) - I dug out SW:BF1 the week before SW:BF2 released and played it for a day or so just to remind myself of the general gameplay. Others have already listed pros, cons, and recommendations; let me add to their lists rather than duplicate them: PROS: -- You get to (a) dogfight in space and (b) play as a Jedi or other 'hero' character (e.g., Boba Fett), all within the context of a given mission. -- The "Rise of the Empire" campaign is well thought out, if a bit dark (e.g., you get to assassinate the Queen of Naboo; I'm just grateful you don't have to kill the 'younglings' in the Jedi Temple). -- The overall gameplay is great, with larger and more complex environments. CONS (all relatively minor): --The Options/Controls panel is a pain to use (as when setting up a joystick). Someone needs to improve the UI design and general behavior on this; it strikes me as being somewhat 'quick and dirty.' --The shift to story/objective mode moves SW:BF2 towards the classic problems of a 'railroad' game, namely, you have to figure out how the designers intended you to complete the objectives and in what order. For example, in the Kashyyyk: First Line of Defense mission, I tried to destroy the CIS cruiser heavy turrets before I destroyed the enemy frigates, but SW:BF2 wouldn't let me. --Each mission has a number of sub-objectives, and there is no way to save a game within a mission. In other words, if you get to the very last mission task and die, you have to start the entire mission all over again. --There are a few glitches here and there. For example, in that same mission, SW:BF2 seemed to have a hard time figuring out when the other clone troopers should follow me over to the CIS cruiser. RECOMMENDATIONS: -- First, get a joystick. It's a lot easier to do the space combat with one, though you'll have to take some time to set up the controls (under Options). -- Second, if you don't have a lot of spare time, get the strategy guide. It doesn't ... 4 stars (A good GameCube port of a surprisingly-fun game) - This GameCube version of Lego Star Wars was released a full six months after the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game, an odd decision considering the frequently-assumed target audiences of the different consoles. Even so, this delayed port is nevertheless a very solid one, and gamers who have Cubes can pick this one up knowing it looks and plays just as well on this console as it does on the others. Lego Star Wars is a game that is forgiving enough that children will enjoy it (i.e. a character who gets "killed" is simply resurrected nearby). At the same time, also has a few challenges that will give adults a share of fun. The game features a VERY large number of unlockables and extras that can only be completed by collecting certain items and collecting large enough numbers of the game's currency (known as bits). Some of the levels are not terribly difficult to beat - but can be challenging to beat with sufficient numbers of bits, some of which are lost when a character dies. Of note, Lego Star Wars also has an easy-to-use cooperative feature, which is a great deal of fun regardless of the age of the people you are playing with. The presentation of this game is outstanding. The graphics are beautiful and glossy and portray the "Lego" and the "Star Wars" both wonderfully. The cutscenes are funny and capture well the storyline of the first three episodes even though there is no voicework to speak of. John Williams soundtrack is here and the game even has the appropriate tracks for each level. Hearing that trademark "Darth Maul" anthem during the duel with the Sith is a real treat. There are only a few drawbacks to the game. One, it's a bit on the short side - an adult could probably plow through the entire campaign in 6-8 hours. That being said, each level has hidden items and unlockables that are only accessible after you've beaten that level in the regular story mode, so there is a... 4 stars (i liked it) - star wars battle front is one of the best games that have been made on Ps2. It is not only fro star wars fans, it is also a great shoot em up game with heaps of different weapns and players to play as,worth paying the money for. 4 stars (The best Star Wars game I've played yet) - Star Wars Battlefront is a great game, despite a few minor flaws. Out of all the Star Wars titles I've played, it is by far the best. It offers all of the gameplay styles of the past Star Wars games, including battle on the aerial, vehicle, and soldier levels. You can fight as four sides on planets such as Bespin, Geonosis, Hoth, Endor, and Kashyyyk (One course, Rhen Var, was only in one short scene of Episode 3). The targeting and radar systems are good enough, but the missile lock-on systems are somewhat hard to use. You can fight as four sides, each with benefits and downsides. Rebels: While the Rebellion lacks some of the firepower of the Empire, they have the best starfighters in the entire game. Their special unit, the Wookie Smuggler, can drop time bombs and shoot several enemies at once. Empire: One of the best features of the Imperials is the ability to play as walkers- including the AT-AT, which can be used on Hoth and Rhen Var. Republic: This group focuses mostly on heavy weapons, with armored tanks, walkers, and gunships at their disposal. They are very similar to the Imperials, but have better starfighters. CIS (Trade Federation): Their vehicles are some of the worst in the game, but they make up for it with their droid soldiers. For the first time ever, you can play as the lethal Droideka, also known as the Destroyer Droid, from Episode 1. There are only two real downsides to this game. The first is that you can only battle within your side's Era. For example, the Rebellion can not fight the CIS in a battle. Also, every mode of gameplay is almost exactly the same- you must kill enemy soldiers and capture their Command Posts - so the game can get r... 5 stars (First gta now this!!) - It's really a good game, the second best game for psp by a long shot (gta was really good too). I'll the titles out for psp have been crap, this and gta are really good games though, battlefront 2 is really great, it's just what you would expect. Although when people say there are long loading times, i'd have to agree but i read the tips and hints that are displayed while it's loading. My game hasn't froze yet and I've owned this game for over a week. What's up with all the knocking the controls, their fine, plus you get 5 different choices of control settings. The graphics are good, the difficulty's o.k ( could've of made a harder mode). You can play with every character from the first one and I truly enjoy this game and I think that you should go buy it right now, like just go, it's worth it and a very game so go and buy it a.s.a.p. 5 stars (Quoth the Raven "This game rocks!!!!!") - This has got to be the best game for the PSP! The graphics are excellent, the framerate is smooth, the space battles are emense and action packed, and the jedi characters are really fun to play as. This game is worth buying a PSP for!!! 5 stars (Last review sucks) - I like the game is so fun but hard and the guy who says this game is bad is a fool ... 1 stars (returning it) - This game is very machine specific..I ordered it for my grandson's birthday and have to return it because the Mac at his house is not the right one for this game. A great disappointment. The technology exists to make things more diverse & be compatible with many computers...this game isn't. 1 stars (Lego Star Wars for Mac by aspry) - Does not work on a normal G4 iMac. Must have a G4 PowerMac or better. Recommended is a G5!!! 4 stars (A good distraction) - Okay, so I would've given this game three and a half stars, but I had to bump it up to four... oh well ;-) Anywho, I would say most of all that this game is a good distraction. Huge Star Wars fans (of which I am a party to) will really enjoy the details and references and the unlockables in this game - which will allow you to finally get to a point where you can kill Jar Jar Binks in the fighting mode (snicker, snicker...). The game play is simple and easy, yet there are definite problems with some of the controls and camera angles, which are OFTEN jerky and awkward, causing repeated falls down cliffs and blaster shots to the plastic behind, dropping down your cutesy little life hearts to zero before you can even turn to face your stubby attacker. Altogether, the cute little figures and neat-o weapons and unlockables (including droids! oh, dozens and dozens of useless droids...) fail to really make up for the crappy gameplay. I would say, if you're a Star Wars fan, shell out the forty and pick it up for a nice 3-5 hour distraction. If not - well, then, don't. ... 2 stars (Good fun, needs a patch though) - When I first got this game it failed to run on either my windows 2000 or xp systems. I later reformatted both computers and discovered that this game fails to run on a fully updated install of windows. Although there is one patch out at the moment, it fails to fix the problem. I'm hoping another patch is in the works that will fix it. What I have played of the game however, is fantastic. If and when this game gets another patch, I would raise my overall score to 5, until then, it gets 2. 5 stars (Great game!) - Cossacks 2 is a great game;one of the best strategy games of 2005.Dont listen to the negative reviews....this game has it all.The graphics, sound, computer A.I.,historical detail, etc. all make for a rewarding and entertaining gaming experience. The game ran perfectly on my PC(which is several years old and not a high end machine). So I dont really relate to all this talk about crashes, unfinished product,etc....I guess people will always find an excuse to whine and compain...lol. 1 stars (A Serious Disappointment) - I will try to give as brief a review as possible without it seeming like an article or thesis. I had really hoped that this game delivered, after all its hype. After trying Rise of Nations, and Empires:Dawn of the Modern World (which features a nice Napoleonic era, albeit too limited regarding unit choices and buildings) I really looked forward to C2: Napoleonic Wars, as this great time in history is often neglected in RTS gaming. After playing the rather choppy tutorial, I jumped in to the different modes of play and was immediately dismayed. I could not distinquish easily the icons or buttons for resource management, the fog of war was way too small for the structures I built, I could not manage the population or troop building - the only choice seemed to be 'infinity'. Also, although the game promises a realistic feel for the battles, it just ended up being a free for all rush-party, troop for... 4 stars (Lots of fun, where's part 2?) - This is an immensely satisfying journey through the life of a Clone Commando, the elite units in the Clone Wars. Featuring fantastic squad-level action, the game shows you parts of Star Wars that you've been wanting to see for years. Your three squadmates are realized expertly, with convincing AI and squad tactics, as well as engaging animation and voice work. However, be aware that this game is reasonably short, rather easy, and ends with a Halo 2 style "Part I" cliffhanger that leaves you wondering when the next one came out, and why they didn't just print "Part I" right there on the box. 5 stars (STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO) - This game was really fun. I think that it's the best game that they have come out with for Star Wars. It has really good graphics and phrases. Please be aware that you have to have a video card that supports vertex shading, if not, the game won't run. Overall, this game was the BOMB!!! 5 stars (Much better than the movie, Excellent Single Player) - This game produced the most enjoyable experience since Half Life 2. I generally play first-person-shooter once or twice, then never play again; not this game. I only bought it becase it seemed similar to "Brothers in Arms" with its squad-leader element. I was not expecting much as I normally enjoy WWII-style games (I also loathed the latest three Star Wars films) but was very suprised how good it really was. From the beginning, I could sense the high production values. The story line, dialogue, and voice acting were excellent, especially for a video game. I felt I got to know my squadmates in Republic Commando much better than in Brothers in Arms. There were lots of little touches and polish that made it enjoyable to play through many times. Music, top-notch. I don't know if the music is from the films, but it shares the same epic quality. Graphics and effects were well done and ran very well with no stutters, crashes, or lag, even on the hig... 4 stars (No Title(still)) - Knights of the Old Republic is the infamous 2003 game of the year. But the sequal is anything but game of the year material. I think that the one thing people liked about the first game was the detail, characters, and the plot twists. Okay, lets start in the detail. Once agian, the Bioware team knock my socks off with their insanly detailed character models, mabey not Halo or Metroid pixals, but it checks out in my book. Number dos, the characters. You once agian get thrown in with the oddest asortment of torture droids, jedi masters, and hot redhead bounty hunters. Thought some of your party members do reveal Revan's secrets -cough Keria- you can't find any party members famaly like you did with almost your whole party in the last game, although you do need some backround influnce to turn them into jedis'. The cameo aperences are extreme cameos, you see 10 seconds of Admiral Carth Onasi other than that, you have your two favorite droids in your posse (not C3-PO & R2), and HK-47 has some nice opions and voice recitings of Carth and the nice kissing scene with you and Bastaila, yep, HK heard it. The plot was intresting enough, but I think their should be better voice overs and less talking on Telos. I don't want to go too far into the plot, but heres a qustion before I leave. People and magazines hyped Darth Nithilus way too much and gave him a micro sized part in the game, why? Peace Out Shorties 1 stars (a disaterous hole in gaming) - WARNING:THIS GAME IS INCOMPLETE AND WILL LEAVE GAMERS FRUSTRATED AND BORED OUT OF THEIR RESPECTIVE WITS! That would be a good warning that Lucasarts could have slapped on the back of KOTOR2. This half-baked yet full priced game is a complete catastophe! So here is a joke. What do you get when you add broken gameplay, imcomplete storyline, confusing controls, and horrible graphics? KOTOR2 of course!
